Guide
Each page here runs against small inputs kept with the site, so it builds the same way every time, and where an input carries a GDAL oracle the page checks gdalxarray against it: if a read drifts, the site fails to build.
The inputs are moving from synthetic test stores to small cuts of real public data, each rebuilt by a script from its source with a provenance record (#41). Real so far: a Sentinel-2 scene over Hobart (open modes), three days of NOAA OISST v2.1 (virtual paths, byte-reference stores), and Antarctic sea ice with GEBCO bathymetry (warping).
- Open modes
- Classic rasters with bands as a dimension or as variables, and multidimensional arrays with named dimensions.
- Virtual paths
-
Local files,
/vsicurl/,ZARR:array and slice syntax,NETCDF:subdatasets andvrt://options, all through the same call. - Byte-reference stores
- A multidimensional VRT mosaic over netCDF files, the byte table behind it, and kerchunk-Parquet Zarr.
- Warping
-
gdalxarray.warp()builds a VRT recipe; xarray opens it lazily. - Curvilinear grids
- Swaths and ocean model grids placed by 2D longitude and latitude, warped by geolocation arrays.
- Georeferencing conventions
- Which Zarr georeferencing conventions this GDAL recognises, in each open mode, measured at build time.
