The picked cell with its basemap, in its grid's own CRS: rotated lon/lat, a cube face's gnomonic, or lon/lat; a tripolar cap cell (which has no CRS) in polar stereographic, masked to the cell.

How it works

A model computes on arrays, so its grid is a rectangle of cells (or a few rectangles) bent round the sphere. Unfold shows the array as the model sees it: the grid is straight and the world is bent instead. A combed sphere always has a bald spot, so every single grid has singular points (amber); the craft is where to put them.
